FactualWEST 2024
FactualWEST is a membership-driven non-profit organization founded in 2013 by Vancouver-based creators, crew, producers and stakeholders who share the goal of promoting the development of Vancouver’s - and more broadly Western Canada’s - unscripted television business.
FactualWEST's annual conference is the West Coast of Canada's biggest opportunity for networking, where story ideas are born and developed, where connections are made and deals are done. These events fill an under-served market, allowing Western Canadian creators the kind of high-level training and networking previously only found in far-flung markets such as Real Screen and Banff; a cost-effective option for training and growing their careers locally.
Early on, FactualWEST identified that despite factual entertainment production's key role in Western Canada, there was a distinct lack of training opportunities available. We also identified the need for the region’s factual producers to become better at understanding and working with the U.S. – in particular, Los Angeles, which is a mere three-hour flight away - and to also learn to develop and sell to the global marketplace.
FactualWEST is now in its tenth year, and we believe there is no other organization in the field of factual entertainment in Western Canada which has grown as fast, or delivered as much training and content for such a reasonable cost. Field & Post, and its annual conference FactualWEST, aims to bring the best producers in the world of factual entertainment, reality, lifestyle, and documentary television to Vancouver, to lift up the skills of people across Western Canada, and we are hoping that your organization will join us in our ambitious goals.
